Should i go to the movies with my boyfriend or go take my sister to get her nails done?

My sister is 9 years of age.Should i go to the movies with my boyfriend or go take my sister to get her nails done?
You should take your sister out to get her nails done. She's family. She probably more important then some guy. He'll break-up eventually. you'll always be sisters though. ^_^ Good luck! lolShould i go to the movies with my boyfriend or go take my sister to get her nails done?
First of all, your sister is 9 years old. I mean why does a 9 year old need to get her nails done? I'm shocked no one has pointed this out already. But, whatever reasons there are, you should go take your sister, because family always comes first. Family will always (well, supposed to be) there for you. Besides, you can go to the movies any day.
I say go with your sister. Explain to your BF that you need to spend time with her. If he's good boyfriend, he'll understand. Your sister will appreciate it.
You should take your boyfriend to the movies.
Take your sister to get her nails done, or do them yourself and then go to the movies later.
get your sisters nail done before 1:oo p.m. then go to the movies with you man later in the evening.
Take your sister to get her nails done today, go to the movies with your boyfriend tomorrow.
Sister...family comes first...
Go with whoever you made plans with first.
go with your sister. It's a good test of how committed your bf is, and your sister will appreciate it more anyways.

Why is my dad freaking out about my black nails?

I'm 16, (ten more characters to add)Why is my dad freaking out about my black nails?
It is just a trend, but you have to remember that this trend means something different than what it used to. Your dad is part of a generation, where only drug addicts, bad girls, promiscuous girls, satanic girls and other low-life's, wore black nail polish. I remember, even when I was in high school, back in the 90's, that it was worn for shock value.

Now, back when I was 16, we all knew that the girls and even some of the guys who wore it, were harmless. Most were pretty smart, often involved in band or theatre, and were just trying to be a little shocking. It was right in there with wearing black lipstick or dying your hair jet black. Even the Goth kids were pretty harmless, and we didn't really have Emo yet, although the haircuts still existed. Those kids did get a little more attention, which is all they ever wanted, and it didn't really both too many people, unless you were pretty ignorant.

But see, your dad is probably older than I am. I'm only 30, although, I guess if I had, had a kid at 14, she'd be about your age, so theoretically, I'm old enough to have a kid your age. Likely though, he's probably in his 40s, and to him its a worrisome indicator. He's comparing you to the 16-year-old girls he knew, when he was 16. He's not keeping-up with modern trends and he's not really interested in what's cool now.

Like he said, ';It never leads to anything good.'; You have to understand, that he's taking an interest in you and is concerned for you. You should be happy you even have a father, much less a dad who's actually concerned about you. You should be happy he's paying attention to you, and noticing things like the colour of your nail polish. Do you have any idea how many girls don't have a father, much less a real dad? Do you have any idea, how many girls who do have a dad, have one that doesn't pay attention to them, and doesn't care about them or their well being? Cut the old man some slack. It may be he's a little ignorant about new tends, but he does care about you, and if you have to sacrifice a few trends, which you wont even care about a few years from now, then its worth it, to maintain your relationship with him.

I know that there are plenty of girls who would gladly throw away their black nail polish, if it meant having a dad who cared about them, this much. When he stops caring and starts ignoring you, then you can worry. I wouldn't fight him on this. It seems arbitrary, and you can always wear all the black nail polish you want, once you move away and go to a university. You'll probably be leaving in the next year or two anyway.

There is kinda an invisible line actually. Its that line where dad's don't know what's cool. They can only compare it to what things where like when they were that age. Yeah, its not fair. Most dad's aren't even really all that interested in learning what's cool either. The one's who tend to be kinda absent and let you get away with one thing, tend to be really absent and let you get away with everything and they just don't care. Be happy he cares.

I think you should take it off to please him, but you can express yourself in other ways. There are other trendy things you can do. I remember, when I was just starting college, one trendy thing was to do different designs with shoe laces. This group would often buy trendy sneakers, and then would buy different colour laces, and would even lace them differently. There are apparently books and websites, that feature instructions on how to do fancy lacings. This never really offended anyone, and even if you could only afford one trendy pair of shoes, the laces were cheap, and it was a way to keep them looking different, and interesting. I think that's probably still trendy in some areas. Its one of those things that never offended anyone, and didn't really have a secondary meaning. Why is my dad freaking out about my black nails?
Well, sometimes Dads are like that. Often, if you just resolve the initial conflict, like in your case, you took the polish off, then people are more willing to listen. In his case, your Dad was then willing to listen to you, when you explained it was just a new trend, %26amp; doesn't mean anything bad.

hi how are you? dads what can I say they sometimes worry to much about things that we don't think it is a big deal/he just loves you so much that he worries about your appearance.

Maybe your dad thinks you are going to the dark side or something just because you are wearing nail polish.

Even though it is a trend right now for you and maybe your friends why not just take it off to please your dad maybe you could put a different colour you like and then decorate with a little black on the nails cause it does not look so bad for your dad (like black spots or lines or whatever you thinking of doing for decoration).

I am not telling you what to do it is your decision of course but do you really want to fight and argue with your dad over black nail polish?

good luck with your decision and I think it is a good Idea to talk to your dad about it one on one in a mature manner

all the best
I sometimes paint my nails black, I am not goth or a devil worshiper. LoL. Tell your dad its just a color and it's not like you're pregnant or have piercings or tattoo's. Tell him there are other things he should worrying about other than the color you decide to paint YOUR nails!

You should wear all black one day and wear black lipstick and eyeshadow and tell him you are a satainist just to get a rise out of him and when he gets shocked or mad tell him ';just kidding it's just black nail polish dad!';
It's just a trend, like you said. There was a HUGE freak out back in the 50's-60's era over bright red nail polish and lip stick, you were a sult (spelled wrong on purpose!) if you wore this color...see how silly it is now?

You should probably just reassure him that you are not in a cult of Devil Worshipers who are sacrificing small animals in your spare time, unfortunately that's the stigma attached to black these days..

Good luck!
so it seems that DR. Stef is saying that if you paint your nails black then you will end up pregnant... WHAT ARE THEY PUTTING IN FINGERNAIL POLISH THESE DAYS?! OMG!!!!!! Anyways... enough of listening to the moronic DR. over there. If you like it, sit down with your dad and ask him why he feels that way. Explain to him that you arn't out there doing drugs or drinking (and if you are, lie to him for gods sake. we don't want him to have a heart attack) and tell him that you like the way they look. Try to come to a compromise with him.
Tell him there are far more worse things you could be doing than painting your nails black.

Lol or just simlpy ask him why it makes him so upset, and explain to him it is just a trend and you like how they look.
Explain to him that's it's just a fashion trend. Maybe get some magazines and show him celebrities or models with black nails. Not all people with black nailpolish are goth or emo (maybe that's what he's thinking..).
he is right I got married in black nails

didnt turn into anything good
black nails are goth,,,,,add yellow or orange stripes show some respect,,,,meet half way on this,,,,,

I wear arcylic nails--how do I keep them from discoloring in the tanning bed?

There are all sorts of UV products do any of them keep discoloration from occuring???I wear arcylic nails--how do I keep them from discoloring in the tanning bed?
Acrylic nails should not yellow, not if they are made from top quality acrylics. If they do are yellow, it is most often due to a product which you are using, like nail polishes, and will only stain the very top of the nail, not the entire way through the nail. Suntanning accelerators, and lotions, cremes, etc., can also stain the surface of your nails. Just be sure to wash your hands good after using any of these products - before tanning, if possible. Always use a basecoat when using polish on acrylic nails. This will help to prevent staining, and it will make the polish last longer by giving it something to adhere to. A gentle buffing should remove surface stains. The reason this happens is that acrylic nails are porous, and thus, products such as nail polish - especially darker shades, can easily penetrate the surface

If they are stained all the way through the nail, then chances are that you have gotten either poor quality acrylic applied to your nails, or acrylic which contains a substance called MMA(cheap, and will ruin your nails, and possibly be harmful to your health as well. This is not for use on nails, and it is illegal to use on nails in many states. This is not for use on nails, ever. But its really cheap to buy, so lots of discount salons use it anyway). These will yellow all the way through. Always make sure you go to a reputable salon which uses nothing but top quality products. The containers which hold the liquid and powders should be clearly labeled. If they are not, then this is usually a sign that it is not a good quality product. Always ask which acrylic product line they are using. If the containers are unmarked, as is usually the case at discount salons, then don't be afraid to ask them to show you the original containers. If they have nothing to hide, then they should not have a problem with this sort of request. Look for names on the containers such as Creative Nail Design, Tammy Taylor, Entity Beauty, Young Nails, and there are a few more good ones too.

One way to avoid yellow nails altogether is to get gel nails. Be certain that you are getting real gel nails. Gel nails uses nothing but gels, they have the consistency of a hair styling gel, and come in various colors, most commonly clear, white, and numerous shades of pink, though there are also lots of other colors available now as well. Gel nails do NOT contain any liquid and powder. If the tech is applying any L %26amp; P, then you are getting acrylic nails, not gel nails. It happens all the time, beware of this. And there is no such thing as ';powder gel'; either, though some scammers will refer to their 'gel' as being this. Gel is gel, not powder. Period.

About Solar nails: They are regular acrylics. They are not some new type of nail, or nail product. Don't be fooled into thinking that they are not acrylic, because they are though lots of discount salons are marketing them as some sort of new nail product. This is false. The term is a play on words, and typically refers to Pink %26amp; White nails (Permanent French). Thus, the price should never be any higher than it is for P%26amp;W's, because thats what they are! SoarNail is an acrylic product line that is made by Creative Nail Design. It was first introduced back in the later 1970's, and is still used today, though not very often because the acrylic industry has changed and improved for the better over the years so that much better acrylic products are now being used. But, CND remains to be one of the top nail companies in existence because they have kept up with all the changes, and this is reflected in their current nail product offerings including acrylics, gels and many more nail care products. Just a bit of info for ya!I wear arcylic nails--how do I keep them from discoloring in the tanning bed?
If it's doing that to your nails imagine what its doing to your body as you regularly do this. From a guys point of view, the fake baked girls don't look good and everybody knows that its fake. You can also tell the women in their thirties who have been doing this for a long time look so much older and their skin is nasty. Do you want to be one of those women with wrinkly cleavage? A healthy glow from a LITTLE sun exposure looks so much better.
You could use a darker polish, or if you like French tips you could switch from acrylic to gel (they don't really discolor). Or you could put cotton around your fingertips before you get in, or even maybe douse them in SPF 50.
Oh gross. Tanning and acrylic nails. Make sure your polish doesn't have any formaldehyde in it. This is what causes the yellwing.
Try solar nails instead. They're similar to acryllic, and cost slightly more, but they don't turn yellow when you tan.
there are caps you can wear on your nails made special for arcyic nails

if not all i can think of is cover up the tips with lotion or towels
if you go to a good tanning place they have nail covers you can buy/use. Ask them next time you go in there!
don't go fake baking...it is really bad for your skin and nails
well your fake..ha ha fake nails and fake tan ha
put something over them when u tan
Try having a gel set put on next time you have your nails done. They last longer and won't discolor like acrylic nails. I have had this problem before too.

Can this be treated ?I seem to have developed ridges on my finger nails. Is this a vitamin deficiency ?
Fingernail condition has been used for thousands of years to accurately diagnose ailments and maladies in the body. Chinese physicians mastered this practice.

Fingernail changes may signify a number of disorders elsewhere in the body. These changes may indicate illness even before the rest of the body shows any signs. You should always seek professional help if any of the below changes are observed on the nail.

Ridges running lengthwise may indicate a kidney disorders

Brittle nails may indicate possible iron deficiencyI seem to have developed ridges on my finger nails. Is this a vitamin deficiency ?
Yes it is, it is a vitamin or mineral deficiency, but I'm sorry I can't remember exactly which one. I had a mineral and vitamin book somewhere I read it in. I know white spots indicate zinc deficiency. Try a Naturopath for advice?

How do I stop dirt from getting under my nails?

I just stopped biting my nails but whenever I check there's dirt under them! I don't go playing in the mud so I don't know how it gets there, is there a way to stop dirt getting under my nails without having to remove it myself?

thanks in advance! How do I stop dirt from getting under my nails?
Congratulations! Nailbiting is a difficult habit to break. Good for you.

If you're going to be doing something you know will cause this problem (like gardening), dig your fingernails into a bar of soap and slide across the bar. This will coat the underside of the nail making clean up really easy.

Otherwise, you'll need to get a small nail brush and give your nails a swipe when necessary. Don't get into the habit of using pointed objects to scrape. At some point, you'll cut into the tissue joining the nail and your finger (ooooh! so painful!)

Keep up the good work and treat yourself to a manicure. How do I stop dirt from getting under my nails?
It isn't posible to remove dirt from underneath your nails without phisically doing it yourself.

    Unfortunatlely.

But you can try 'natural buffer' which is sold at walmart and it is this stuff u put under your nails and no dirt ever goes there.

Keep them dirty... scratch your skin or do something that will make you think twice each time you go to put them in your mouth.
smear dog poop on them you may slip and bite them once, but you won't a second time.
    stop it
they have this stuff for kids that bite nails- it tastes like you are eating finger nail polish. do some research on it.
Buy nail clippers at your local store for under a dollar, and use them every time you have to cut your nails. This will break the habit of using your mouth and teeth
I bit my nails my entire life and tried everything. Finally I invested in acrylic nails for a special event and kept them for 2 months. When I got them removed I had gotten over the habit and continued to be motivated by my natural pretty nails afterwards.
well like maybe go get your nails done with the best manucure and prettyest nail polish then that would prob. stop the temptation........but what i do,well i chew gum and that helps like so much.......or what other people have said they put nail polish remover on and after u put that on u wouldnt even want to put your nails even CLOSE to your mouth

what i do to stop biting my nails is just always have nail pollish on you nails, and just try not to bite your nails, just think how pretty they would be if you didnt bite them..

I agree with the nail polish or the tape, but growing up in a mexican family (and HATING chili powder)...my aunt used to dip my fingers in chili powder or really hot salsa...then i'd be burning the heck out of my mouth until i learned better (now i just file them down before i get a chance to revert to old ways)
I know its hard...I had to stop somehow. cold turkey is the best way. You gotta have the will power to stop.
just keep them out of your mouth.
    put poison on them
al u hav 2 do is put tape on it and every time u bit them u will bit that nasty tape.

Are fake nails really worth the money?

My local shopping center, where i work, just opened a nail beautician store... i walk past it every day. i have long nails myself but i really like the look of gel nails... but it cost $60 to get them. How long do they last and do they get in the way of doing daily chores?? i dont want to waste my money but i want nice nails. Are fake nails really worth the money?
I don't think so... Bacteria and fungus can grow underneath of them too and ruin your natural nails. Are fake nails really worth the money?
go someplace cheaper than those are. I got mine for 30 and they are fantastic!
you can go to some pharmacist shop or something like that to get at a cheaper price? $60 is quite expensive for me, they'll last like for a week?
If 60 bucks isn't enough alone to discourage you, then perhaps this info will. The chemical used to apply acrylic and gel nails is to bacteria, as a hershey bar is to a pms'n woman...meaning that bacteria microorganisms loooove acetone and the other chemicals used and flock to it. As the nail is applied you are literally trapping millions of microorganisms between your real nail and the fake one PER FINGER. That is like heaven to the bacteria cuz all their lives consist of is eating and pooping nonstop...therefore they remain trapped between your nails feeding away nonstop on the chemicals even when we think its gone, just cuz we no longer smell the strong chem odor doesnt mean its not there, and bacteria can smell it.They live and thrive and feed and poop and well DESTROY your natural fingernail among other things which basically involve a physician and sum antibiotics! Not to mention its NASTY yellow crusty gross for a looong time. Fake is never ever a good thing in my opinion anyway.and 60 bux is outrageous for that. I live in GA and I thought it was crazy that theyre 35$ here I cannot even see me goin for 60! My advice steer clear from the fake ones, give YOURSELF a home manicure, take your 60 bucks and have a good time.
dont get them!!! if you wear them for over 10 days you can develop a horrible fungus. i think that you will be happier if you just get a pretty manicure. and unless the glue is like SUPER SUPER glue the nails fall off pretty fast.
I know some people think that $60 is a lot for a set of nails but you get what you pay for. If you go to a budget salon and pay $15 you get cheap nails.

Artifical enhancements, if done correctly, are great! Make sure you go to someone that you know does good work and uses quality products. I've been doing nails for 16 years and I don't agree with what is said about bacteria being trapped between the product and nail. If the technician is doing the service correctly, she/he will clean the nail plate with a dehydrator/disinfectant first before applying the product.

Depending on how fast your nails grow and the quality of work will depend on the time between fills. Most of my clients go 3 weeks between fills. They won't get in the way of your daily chores anymore than your own long natural nails.
I love fake nails! They last a while and are stronger then my real nails. It takes a while getting used to them though.
    No!...Real nails are free!
umm actually, fake nails will look gorgeous but if u have really long nails get them done professionally, they will look so good. i got my real nails done and i can't even tell the difference, it may cost u less to do it too. if u want fake u can but u will waste ur real ones
well they are pretty but they stay on me for about two weeks but then u can go get them filled for cheaper and continue to wear them but if u dont get them filled then they just come off and they ruin ur nails
No don't get them because they can be really annoying, but from terry white chemist you can get a french nail kit for $15 and in the kit it has special nail polish to do french nails and it looks better. If you don't have a terry white chemist i know that k-mart and priceline sell the nail polish but there kits are more expensive and don't have everything in it like the one at terry white.
its a waste the ruin your nails and it gets ib the way dont do it
they do get in the way. they look nice. they have made my real nails grow very long. fungus and bacteria happens depending on how unsanitary the nail technican's equipment is. i say find a cheaper nail salon and try them for a week or two.
I used to have fake nails and loved how they looked too. But, I needed to go every 2 weeks to get fills otherwise they look cheap. I now use Sally Hansen Maximum growth phase 1 to make my nails long and strong and I just get a french manicure which is much less $$ then a fill ($40 each time) 2x a month. Also, I wouldn't recommend the ';mall'; nail salons. Some of them use much harsher chemicals then places where you might pay more. If you are going to have it done, I would call salons and ask why they would recommend you come to their salon over another.

Hopefull they not black and you can see the ';quick'; - the live part of the nail.. do not cut into that.

If they are black, just cut the very tip. Good idae to have some treatment on hand in case you do cut into the quick and it bleeds.

Be very careful - painful for the dog if you do.
This will give you the step by step, with pictures.

just be sure not to cut the quick- which will bleed. if you do, you can get some ';quick stop'; powder to stop the bleeding.

you could also use a grinder/file so that the freshly cut nails don't cut YOU when your dog scratches you
Cut before you hit the quick... if you nick the quick your dogs nail will start to breed profusely.

Here is a site with pictures, if you don't know what the quick is:http://www.pugman.com/Pug%20Information/鈥?/a>

If you are going to clip your dogs nails, be sire to buy some ';quick stop'; (or like product) its available at most pet stores. It's a powder you can use to plug the quick if you accidentally clip it. It will stop it from bleeding.
you should cut them only to where they will not scratch you.
depends on the bred of animal. nail shearing shuld be done by a professional and if you have never done it before dont even think about it. if you have no experience with trimming nails on a dog you can cut too short and the animal can bleed to death. the nails can be trimmed but carefully but if cut into the quick which is like the nails we have and bleed. it would be best if you paid for someone who knows what they are doing. this is a dangerous procedure and if the nail is cut too close your animal can start bleeding and it cant be stopped except by a medicine that forms a clot that stops bleeding.
make sure you have a bright light. this will help you see the nail. if your dog has clear nails you can easily see where the quick is. if black nails, be extra careful

also they have nail cutters for dogs that has a movable plate under the cutter to prevent the nail from going to far. make sure to have handy the stop bleeding stick or powder just in case.

you may also want to have someone help you hold your dog's foot still.

it is nerve wracking, i cut 6 dog's nails and take one to the vet because she just wiggles way too much.

    good luck!
Just watch not to nick the quick.

Cut only the very tips off until you are comfortable with judging where the quick is at in each nail.

On white nails you can see the quick through the nail.

On black nails look under the nail for the quick but it is safe to stay with cutting only the very tips.

With practice you will learn how far to cut. Usually if you maintain the dog's nails regularly you shouldn't have to cut very much off at all.
Only cut the tip of the toenail. If you cut into the ';quick'; you'll cut into the vein that runs down the dog's toenail and he'll bleed. Some dogs have blood that doesn't ';clot'; well and can bleed effusively if the nails are cut too short.

If you don't feel as though you can do this yourself, take him to your vet's office or to a groomer. They often clip toenails for free or for a very nominal cost.

What is a good way to stop biting my nails?it has unfortunately become one of my nervous habits..?

I was hoping to stop.Any ways to stop ?like how can i get myself to stop? What is a good way to stop biting my nails?it has unfortunately become one of my nervous habits..?
Since you are likely doing this subconsciously, get yourself a few pairs of different types of gloves you can comfortably wear.

You don't have to wear them all the time. Putting them on will remind you to stop biting your nails and if you try to bite them when the gloves are on it will remind you to stop biting them.

When you are in public you would probably want to not wear the gloves, but you are less likely to bite nails them. What is a good way to stop biting my nails?it has unfortunately become one of my nervous habits..?
a good way to stop biting your nails is to put bug spray on them
    Wear a muzzle.
start slow, with one or 2 fingers,,, i quit biting my pinkey nails first, then i went to my pinkey and pointer, eventually the only nails i let myself bite were the thumb nails, before long, i quit all together,, took awhile, but i did it
go to a beauty supply store and ask. I'm pretty sure they have a nail polish of some sort you can put on and it tastes terrible

a nasty taste should help you stop
They have this clear nail polish that taste really bad that you can use. It's made to help kids to stop sucking their thumbs but it also works well for nail bitting.
Get a hobby like working out or try to think about something else. Instead play with your hair.
Some really hot chili peppers under your nails and

on the tips of your little didgets may cause you to

    want a lollipop instead!!

    Good luck!
this is going to sound foolish...but it helps... soak your fingers in habenyero (spelling?) peppers, or something that tastes really bad to you. over time it can help you break the habit. it helped me...
    Gloves ... really thick ones.
you just like me must stop. you can do it . i wish you the best and i dont give a f u c k about the points but i did quit for the most part. no longer eat the flesh and just let them grow but sometimes still have to get them but dont hurt myself and trim them propper with my teeth as fae as i am concerened if i keep them neat with my teeth it is victory
The best way is to get a hammer and pound your teeth out.... P.S. Use a really big hammer!

If your 9 weeks pregnant can you get your nails done?

Can you go to the nail shop and get your nails done? with all those fumes in there? is it good, bad, or just a no-no period? when can you get your nails done again? If your 9 weeks pregnant can you get your nails done?
Yes you can, u can ask them for a mask but i didn't when i was and it went okIf your 9 weeks pregnant can you get your nails done?
Yes, you can get your nails done. As long as your not in their constantly there shouldn't be any problem. I will recommend maybe wearing a mask or something because the fumes might make you sick. That is the only thing that I see that you might have a problem with though.
Absolutely! If you prefer you can wear one of those hospital mask. As I see you think of protection for the baby: you'll be one of those great mother!

    Thanks.
You can get your nails done the whole pregnancy! I did. If the fumes are bad ask for a mask
Yes I think that you can still have your nails done, but it's very important that you tell the nail technician that you are pregnant. She will not be able to use certain chemicals because of your stage in pregnancy. Hope this helps
yes you can get your nails done. my doctor said the only bad thing that could happen if you go to a nail place [excluding accidents] would be you could get woozy from the fumes. i got my nails done [acrylic] until i was about 23 weeks then i took them off simply because i didnt feel like getting them done anymore. i never got sick and i have a bigger than average baby, totally healthy, not ONE complication at all. =]]

    congrats

EDIT: oh and if you get there and the fumes bother you, ask if you can wear one of their lil masks, they will give you one. i have seen a few fellow preggers in the place i got mine done at ask for them.
It's not something that most women take precautions against. However, technically, you come in contact with a lot of carcinogens when you go to the nail salon, so I'm choosing not to until my baby's born. Chances are though, your baby will be okay, so if you choose to go anyway, don't worry.
    Yes, you can..

But I would just sit back and relax..

Enjoy your pregnancy and good luck !

What is the best way to stop biting your nails???

Plz i need help i tried everything!!!!!!!What is the best way to stop biting your nails???
Every morning, dip your nails in nail polish remover. It will taste so nasty when you bite them, you'll have to stop. What is the best way to stop biting your nails???
When I got them removed I had gotten over the habit and continued to be motivated by my natural pretty nails afterwards.
well like maybe go get your nails done with the best manucure and prettyest nail polish then that would prob. stop the temptation........but what i do,well i chew gum and that helps like so much.......or what other people have said they put nail polish remover on and after u put that on u wouldnt even want to put your nails even CLOSE to your mouth

    well i hope i helped

My mom use to paint my little sister's fingernails with tobasco. I'm not sure if it a good idea, crazy, or just abusive, but I guess it was affective. This presumes that you don't love tobasco sauce on its own.
what i do to stop biting my nails is just always have nail pollish on you nails, and just try not to bite your nails, just think how pretty they would be if you didnt bite them..

    GOOD LUCK!
put nail polish on ur nails you'll taste how gross it is then you'll stop it and plus it last all day
try a nailpolish called ';hoof'; i used it...it tastes so terrible that even without it on i still taste it when i think about biting my nails
    wear gloves.
Put lemon juice and wasabi on your nails. and when u start to bite ur nails, u'll taste the nastiness and learn to not bite em anymore
you can buy the new polish it tast awfull when you put your nails in your mouth.
dip 'em in Tabasco, but that wouldn't work for me. I was weaned on the stuff.............

There is special stuff you can buy at the store to paint on your nails. You can also buy a little hand games or something so your hands are occupied. If you bite when you are nervous, instead of bored, you should carry around something squishy to squeeze. Tell your friends and family that you want to stop, so they can stop you when you do it. Hope that helps. What is the best way to stop bitting my nails?
I agree with the nail polish or the tape, but growing up in a mexican family (and HATING chili powder)...my aunt used to dip my fingers in chili powder or really hot salsa...then i'd be burning the heck out of my mouth until i learned better (now i just file them down before i get a chance to revert to old ways)
I know its hard...I had to stop somehow. cold turkey is the best way. You gotta have the will power to stop.
just keep them out of your mouth.
    put poison on them
al u hav 2 do is put tape on it and every time u bit them u will bit that nasty tape.
paint ur nails. when u notice that ur eating nial polish, you wil deffinately stop. =] hope that helps
i assume you`re a girl, with your nickname right ? just paint your nails ! it helped me a lot, i used to have serious nail biting issues until my mom painted them, i was about to bite them, but after seeing the nail polish, i was sure i didn`t want to eat polish -__- so i stopped ! i`ve had long nails for a few years now.
    wear hand glows
Go get fake nails put on; they're thick and when you remember that you spent at least $20 to get them done it will help you resist biting them.

nothing. thats if they actually hold up that long. I use nail glue, though. that can damage your nails a litte, but after taking mine off, I just use a 3-way nail buffer and that shines them right back up.What happens when you leave on false stick-on nails for more than the told time?
They will fall off eventually, but while they are still on, they may start to develop bacteria underneath them, and that will damage your real nail.

Here is an excellent site for you to look at. Perfectly clear photos make this easier to understand as well.

If the quick gets cut,it's nothing for you to panic about and rush her to the vet. Styptic pencils will help stop the extremely small flow of blood. Or if that is not available baking soda pasted with water will work just as well.
    Dog groomer.
I cut my dogs nails all the time. You said it was a small dog? does it have Black nails? if so you should be able to look under and see a white line it's called the quick. Do not cut that or up past that otherwise it will bleed(if that happens you can put cornstarch on it to stop the bleeding, while you get to a vet) if the Dog has White nails you should be able to see the quick without turning the nail over. just cut alittle off the tips and you should be fine.
Take it to a professional vet, he'll either do it himself or tell you how.
in a dogs nail [unless the have black nails, then you should take him/her to a groomer] the nail changes color. it goes from pink to white. when you cut the nail, make sure you DO NOT cut into the pink. when you cut the nail, there should still be a tiny bit of white still left.. if by accident you cut to short and it bleeds [the dog will yelp, but only for a second] put some water on a paper towel or towel, and then put some baking soda on it and place it on the edge of the dogs nail.. it'll help stop the bleeding..

if you'd like me to explain more in detail.. feel free to email me..

goodluck, and just take your time with it.
The best way to find out is to do a little research. You will know when you cut them too close, but if you read about what you need to look for in order NOT to cut them too close, you will do fine:-)
If you don't know how to cut your dogs nails properly I wouldn't do it. If you cut it too close it will bleed. You could always just take your dog to a local groomer or your vet.
take the dog to the vet,,,because it might seem like a easy thing to do but you might hurt the dog...

How do u kick the biting nails habit 2 the curb & what 2 use on ur nails 2 help it get stronger???

I have a really bad habit of biting my nails and I have tried a few products to put on my nails to make them harder and stronger but it's like as soon as my nails get to the point where they are looking good they start to crack peel break then I start to bite. My husband really really hates my habit. HELP.How do u kick the biting nails habit 2 the curb %26amp; what 2 use on ur nails 2 help it get stronger???
It's always great to kick a bad habit. This one is quite common so don't worry, you're not alone! Keep trimming your nails so that they don't break. Don't use any strenghteners. Once they grow a little, trim them back down. That way there will be nothing to bite. Try using nail polish. This sounds funny but really, it will make your nails harder and you won't be able to bite them. worst case worst you'll peel off the nail polish, trim your nails, and do it again. Good Luck!!!How do u kick the biting nails habit 2 the curb %26amp; what 2 use on ur nails 2 help it get stronger???
I bit my nails my whole life until I was about 22. One day I decided that having beautiful nails and pretty hands was more important. I got a good nail file and kept it with me all the time to take care of anything I'd be tempted to bite off (which makes them peel worse). It's going to take a couple of months, and the mental strength to use the file instead of your teeth.

I've had great nails for 21 years now, and I really love how I feel when I look at my hands. A few years back I got acrylic put on them and I am HOOKED! Polish stays on forever!!!and they don't break or peel! Being able to wear any color polish I want and have beautiful hands is so fabulous.

Just say no to biting. No bad-tasting stuff is going to make a difference. Your nails will get stronger as they grow. Get a file and keep it with you at all times. Eat Jello or take gelatin, and keep any kind of polish on them. Redo it when it chips. With practice you will become a pro at painting your own nails. That's one thing that may keep you from biting, so you don't wreck the pretty polish. It will all be worth it.
run your teeth under your nails instead of biting (not kidding it works) and there are lots of sally hansen nail creams for stregthening nails
There's a nail polish out there that is made to keep you from biting your nails - cause it tastes like butt!! Or, if you can't find it - for awhile - coat the tips with super glue - you'll know why. Even better - exhibit some self control! If your starting to chew on your nails - tell yourself to stop!

As far as healthy looking nails - there's a vitamin called Biotin - good for hair, skin, and nails - been using it for over ten years - it's great! Peeling could be from poor nutrition. Try wearing glitter nail polish every now and then - it acts as an exfoliate when you remove the polish and it helps grow your nails. Also, any color polish with Lycra is good. And most important - L'Oreal's Grow Stronger (it looks like a sheer purple - but goes on clear) - is the best strengthener in the universe!! Been using it since 9th grade - and I'm 32 now!!! Still use it! I buy it in bulk!!!
they are products that are bitter you can spray on your fingers. That should stop your bad habit
well i had this problem horribly bad but i bought this stuff that was sour and nasty that you spray on your nails and it trained me to stop biting them
You can use Teflon by Sally Hansen. It is really good. You can buy if at Walmart.
I have the same habit. I have gone out and gotten acrylic nails put on (the embarrasment was enough to make me quit), and my own nails grew out underneath the fakes. Once the fakes were removed, I would fuss with Sally Hanson Hard as Nails Strengthener instead of biting. When they were long enough to make me happy, I invested in a good manicure set and lots of polish. I felt proud whenever someone would tell me how pretty my nails looked. You'll never totally kick the habit (I am biting again right now), but it's a start, and the longer you can go without biting, the happier you'll be.
trim them back to the quick and keep them there , with nothing to chew on the habit will go away by itself, forget about strengtheners, short nails will be strong enough by themselves
jsut BE detemined not to bite dem!!%26gt;...puting lotion on ur nailz makes it harder!...do it b4 u go to sleep...:)
What I did was put tape around them lol scotch tape and it works but looks realy stupit........

a french manicure but under the white would be a thin line of glitter? how much would that cost? and do you have any other origional and unique ideas and pics??Would these nails look cute and how much would it cost?
That's how i had my nails done for my wedding. It was really pretty. Maybe you should do a different color right under the white, or get a different air brush design. There are usually tons to choose from if you go to get them done at the salon.Would these nails look cute and how much would it cost?
depends of where you go. What you want is probably going to be between 25 and 50 dollars. The acryllics will cost about 25-40 and design is probably between 5 and 15. I went to a place once that was 35 dollars with just a french tip, but the place i go to now is 40. but keep in mind fillings will probably be about 10 less. Try getting an airbrushed flower or something on a few of your fingers also. Maybe in pink or a color that will stand out
It might be cute but Im more into the less is more type thing when it comes to fashion and accessories, hair make up and nails, it shouldnt cost anymore than and extra 3 -5 dollars
    No.

Try something more fun and unique.
ONLY FOR A PARTY NOT FOR DAYTIME
it costs depending where you go. average is about 35 for acrylics unless you want just french, theyre 22 usually. and then 5 for a design.

Grow and file, grow and file....... I used to bite my nails BIG time, but not any more........ They are gorge now! I can't stop staring at them! Trust me its worth the wait. Shouldn't take toooooo long. I had been biting ever since I could rember up till about 6 months ago. They'll probably be slightly damaged, but just give them TLC.... Good luck, and happy staring!!What should i do if i break 3 nails, and i been growing them out?
oh dudeee i FREAKING hate when that happens, well it depends on how long your nails are cause if they were medium longish i would say fake/acrylic nails if they are short now i would say, to cut them i'm sorry... but i thik they do have nail strengthening polish and you could always have more calicium!

  • Are artificial nails okay to get while pregnant?

I am a big fan of artificial nails, and used to get them all the time. When I dont have them I try to take care of my nails and paint them regularly. I am now 39 weeks pregnant, and figure I wont have time to do this with a newborn. So I thought maybe this would be a good idea. I just wasnt sure if the smell of they give off while being put on is good for a pregnant women to be around? Does anyone know, and if you have them, did they affect looking after the baby in any way?Are artificial nails okay to get while pregnant?
Yup! perfectly safe! I have been getting acrylics for the past 5 years .. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and going to get a set today! :)

the lady that does my nails is 22 weeks pregnant as well, and she is going to continue doing nails until delivery time! .. there is no harm to the baby (or you) by getting your nails done! :)

enjoy! pamper yourself .. you deserve it! :)

good luck! God bless! Are artificial nails okay to get while pregnant?
It's fine, just don't go in there breathing deeply for a long time. That's just not good for you whether or not you are pregnant!

Just keep in mind changing poopie diapers with nicely manicured nails. You are bound to get some of the ';mess'; under your nails!
its fine, but I wouldn't get them until your at least used to carrying your baby around though.
NO! don`t even think about getting arcrylic nails when you are pregnant. It's a very bad thing. You see.. when you have a baby... the baby adapts its mother skin, nails, and hair... Alot of people ask this question and it is not O.K to get artificial nails when you are pregnant. When you get them done.. often they would grind it down thin and apply the arcrylic.. your baby's nails might be thin and brittle when they grow up.. they adapts its mother. Also..fume can harm the baby.. I have been doing nails for a while and never have seen a pregnant women get artifical nails. But if you still want to get it painted like manicure or a pedicure.. it's fine.. But just don't get arcrylic nails. Most of the women that i did nails for are nurses. They told me all about it and i understand why. I have been doing research about this a while back. I would prefer you get a pedicure and manicure done often.. especially the pedicure. Because when you massage your feet.. they would massage around the corner of your ankle... it can vibrate to the baby and it's kind of like they`re massaging the baby which can lead to a healthy baby. If you have fake nails now.. I would prefer you soak them off and get a regular manicure.. Hope this helps...
The fumes from the shop are bad for the baby.
Pregnant women do nails, they use a face mask. If you want you can get one at home depot. Congrats and good luck!!!!
I get my nails done....just make sure the salon is ventillated!! But, it's safe!!! Go get pampered!!
artificial nails are NEVER ok to get...they are tacky, cheesy and are the badge of a lazy woman

Get those fake acrylic nails - they are hard and the money you will have to pay to get them fixed will help break the habit
I'm a nail biter and I've been trying to stop for years. Self control is not the answer. Easily said by those that do not bite there nail's.

Because, I have a professional position where I make several court appearance's I keep my nails done. If I've poped a nail and my actual nail has grown I will bite it down.

I truly believe it's in nail biter's and nothing can be done it's a bad habit, but what can we do?
They sell creams and sprays to put on your nails, that would help you to stop. The website below is an example of one. All I did to find this one was type ';stop biting nails'; in Yahoo search engine.
I use to bite my nails all the time and I would even try to dip my nails in nail polish remover so I would stop biting them because they tasted bad. Think about why you bite them...

I finally stopped because I realized that I don't like my nails and when they look bad I continue to bite them and make it worse. What worked for me is I put on acrylic and they look very pretty and i think to myself that I do not want to waste my money and break them off and I like how pretty they look so eventually I leave them alone. That has helped for me and its an idea for you.

    Hope it helps!

    Good luck!
    get yer teeth pulled...lol

No seriously, had the same problem myself years ago...just have to be really conscious of it and make the effort to stop.

It is a bad habit and we just have to break it...at least it is not addicting like smoking or something.

Every time yer hands go to yer mouth stop and put something in yer hands, sit on em or get busy with something using yer hands.

Just a habit and all habits can be broken.

Good luck...if I did it, trust me you can.
I'm 35 and still bite my nails. I find I go through phases where they look great and then something triggers me to start picking and biting--I found it to be anxiety related--not necessarily stress.

I found having nail scissors/nail file with me to clip the hang nails and jagged nails helps with stopping the biting. The minute you want to bite, get the nail file and file a little. I agree with other posters--once I get my nails to look good I don't bite for a long time.

I also bought a really nice (somewhat expensive) ring. I realized if I wanted to feel comfortable showing people the ring, my nails would have to look nice. That has helped a lot, too.
I know nail biting is a result of being nervous for some people and others bite them because they are too long. Try cutting your nails instead of biting them.
iono ..i think i like bite em in my sleep..lol..wear gloves the rest a ur life..i jus gave up on tryn to stop!

lunula, they are sometimes also called moons. if they are just pulled back under the skin you can push the skin back so they are there again. if they dissapear completely it might be a sign of some problem

    On http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/901225鈥?/a> they say:

The lunula may disappear in the presence of poor nutrition with protein deficiency and with chronic diseases, such as liver cirrhosis, heart failure, diabetes, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.';What are the white things on your finger nails called? How do I cut my little dogs toe nails?

How do I know if I'm cutting my dogs nails too closeHow do I cut my little dogs toe nails?
Best to get it done at the vet. The way you will know you cut too close is when it starts to bleed profusely. How do I cut my little dogs toe nails?

You could always just take your dog to a local groomer or your vet.
take the dog to the vet,,,because it might seem like a easy thing to do but you might hurt the dog...
    w/ toenails clippers...duh!!

Ladies, how do you like to have your nails done at a salon?

    Color, style, etc...

Thank you!Ladies, how do you like to have your nails done at a salon?
I LOVE GETTING MY NAILS DONE. I GO EVERY 2 WEEKS. IT ONLY COSTS ME $13 WHICH IS PRETTY GOOD. MOST OTHER SALONS CHARGE MORE. ONCE IN AWHILE I GET A PEDICURE, BUT I'M SO TICKLISH ITS HARD TO RELAX AND ENJOY IT. WHEN I GET MY NAILS DONE I USUALLY GET A COLOR LIKE PINK OR RED. MY NAILS ARE SQUARED. SQUARED LOOKS BETTER THAN ROUND I THINK.Ladies, how do you like to have your nails done at a salon?
i love french manicure and i prefer white or red ( deep red) colour.
I have my nails done twice a week and I always have a french manicure and pedicure.
I've never been to a salon to get mine done. I have always done it myself. I like a french manicure but also like lots of colour so sometimes i do a french manicure with two different colour like pink and blue or purple for something different, or just nice, plain and buffed
french manicure ... but don't like fake nails ... never had any and don't want them ...they ruin your nails and always break ...but french manicure with a hot design is always stylish and guys like it ;)
I like mine in a french manicure
I usually go with square cut french manicure. Sometimes I will have them painted, like now they are this pretty coral color for summer. In the winter, I go dark.
REGULAR FRENH MANICURE, OR W/ RHINESTONES AND CRAP
french manicure and french pedicure a.k.a french mani-pedi !

sometimes if i want to treat myself to a little luxury i would... ask them to put little jewel designs on my toes and fingers!

    THEY ARE SO CUTE!
I also like French manicure, when I attend our Prom my nails is done like that because it is good to all kind of nails and it makes your feet beautiful!
I also do the French Manicure nice and simple and not to flashy heck why do I want people paying more attention to my nails than my beautiful face, lol. I do the French Manicure for real though.
    It's pretty cool.
I like them not very long cause only porn stars have huge nails, but very healthy by look. I like french manicure, no colour shining polish and the tip of the nail in white. That is the best manicure and it gives a very clean and healthy impression on that woman. Also white sparkling polish is sweet, it makes your nails look like pearls.
Yes ! French... my own nails... NO FAKE!!!!! NEVER !!!!
hmm..i will b nice...i get it done evry tym at de parlour..!!
    french manicure...
Not too long, rounded, and a pale coat of polish. Classy and super-easy to maintain.

and are there any downsides or dangers in taking them if you're not pregnant or even close to becoming pregnant?Do prenatal vitamins really clear up skin, make hair silkier and grow faster, and make nails stronger?
No they don鈥檛鈥?You often hear they do but that is a misconception. A prenatal vitamin is actually not as potent as a normal vitamin. A fetus can be harmed if the fat salable vitamins and specific minerals are too high.

The reason why women often experience great hair and nails during pregnancy is due to the changes her body is going through. Additionally a woman鈥檚 caloric intake increases thus more nutrients are available / absorbed.

    Hope that helps,

I've been on them for 8 months and haven't noticed anything like that. I've had three doctors tell me that if there's any chance that you could get pregnant, it doesn't hurt to start taking prenatals. If you're taking antibiotics or anything else that could make your bc less effective. It's just higher amounts of iron, folic acid and some other regular vitamins and minerals. Shouldn't hurt you.
supposedly I dunno I never tried them. but you can take 'hair skin and nail' vitamins and they will work really good! that's what I take! I buy them at the walmart beauty salon. But I'm sure you could get them at almost any place where they do hair.
I'm on prenatal vitamins and I haven't noticed anything different than when I wasn't on them. I sure would like my hair to grow faster though...
No, this is a misconception, it is pregnancy that actually causes those things. There are some vitamins that help with hair growth and nail strength, you should look into which specific ones can help you.
Do not take prenatal vitamins if you are not pregnant! They can be highly toxic to non pregnant people. They are meant only for pregnant women and have been specifically formulated for that reason (for two people to get their vitamins one of which who is growing another human being inside of her). Again, it can be very toxic to non pregnant people.

Are artificial nails okay to get while pregnant?

What are the white things on your finger nails called? The white, arc-ish things imbedded below the skin?

What happens if those white things are gone, or if they just pulled back under the skin so you can't see it anymore? What are the white things on your finger nails called? The white, arc-ish things imbedded below the skin?
lunula, they are sometimes also called moons. if they are just pulled back under the skin you can push the skin back so they are there again. if they dissapear completely it might be a sign of some problem

    On http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/901225鈥?/a> they say:

';The actual size of the lunula does not correlate with disease or health. The lunula may disappear in the presence of poor nutrition with protein deficiency and with chronic diseases, such as liver cirrhosis, heart failure, diabetes, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.';What are the white things on your finger nails called?
