What are the pros and cons of fake nails?

I may get mine done.What are the pros and cons of fake nails?
They look ace but be careful not to get addicted and where them for too long - i wore fake nails for two years and have now got oncholysis - not nice!What are the pros and cons of fake nails?
I used to have fake nails that I always had kept relatively short to make them look more natural, with french tips. They looked awesome! It took some getting used to, especially the thickness but I ended up loving them.





I think they're great if you have weak or raggedy nails that you can never seem to grow out or get to look decent. I got them because I had the bad habit of tearing my nails, so they were always short stubby and ugly as hell.





The upkeep can be annoying, but it has to be done otherwise they end up looking tacky.





They do hurt like a b*tch if you snag one or accidentally rip it off. It's made me cry before.. lol. I don't think I'm being a wimp about it either.
they damage your real nails quite badly- because the surface of your nail is buffed down (usually with an electric drill!) which makes them weak. also you can get fungus infections under them as water gets trapped between the extension and your natural nail. if you are trying to grow your own nails you would be better to get regular manicures and use a hardener- nailtiques is fab! the pros are that they look good and are a quick fix for a speacial occasion!

you dont need to spend time growing them


you can have fancy designs on them


they make you feel prettier


they look great on a mans thighs (big plus)





Cons





if you get them wrong you look like a witch (minus the broom %26amp; cat)
Well i have only worn them once.. and i only did that so i could learn to stop biting nails and so my nails could grow!





Bad things, when they came of they ripped the top layer of my actul nail off





Good things - as i said - nails can grow

if u see a lady with the kind of naildesign u like ask where she goes to. i go to get mines done since years. i dont have any issues or problems with it.but it also depends on whos doing them and how they will look like.
Pros would be your nails look cared for, but you can do that yourself.


Cons would be the disgusting fumes you breathe in while your in the nail parlor, wasting money, and looking fake :)
If you get your nails done get gel not acrylic.





CON of acrylic nails: They buff your nail and it ruins them leaving them horrible looking as well as ruining your nails for ages.





PRO: They look good, and gel nails don't ruin your natural nails.
they look good thats true buy they chip and look crappy - also its quite tricky doing your hair, make up etc with them on!!





Yours nails underneath after removing them look crap also!

acrlic nails are good and strong, but costly as you have to fill it every month and a half. But why not try it it looks am.azing
Pro- they are pretty


Con- if you are a devoted enough nail biter you will bite them off in your sleep(speaking from my only experience with acrylic,and I mean real acrylic, nails)
Cons:





- They're ugly


- They're expensive but make you look cheap


- They stop you from doing normal work because you don't want to break them





Pros:





- There are none
pro; they look good





con; the glue melts your real nails


and there very painful to get off


and


they cost a bomb !
Pro - they can look good if done classy (ie. no outrageous designs, not too long)





Con - They do have a habit of looking cheap and tacky!





Make sure you go with something basic!! :)

Con-they ruin your real nails underneath.
i think it looks great, but if they fall off it sometimes hurts real bad which isnt good
