Does it hurt cats when you cut their nails/claws with a clipper?

Not if you do it correctly. Always use clippers made for cats--not human nail clippers and not dog nail clippers. You should only cut off a little bit. Here's a helpful website:Does it hurt cats when you cut their nails/claws with a clipper?
No. I advise you doing it for your cats and for yourself (they don't like it normally, but I get a towel and wrap them up in it while I trim them so they cannot scratch me with the other claws- because they will run away). You should have a vet show you where on the cat you should clip to, because it can hurt them if you cut too far. In white claws you can see the nail quick, in black claws it is a little trickier but it is easy once you get the hang of it and you can use a nail clipper like people use to trim them. If you have an outdoor cat - you won't need to do this, but indoor cats you will notice that when your cat begins to snag on something that is fabric - it is time to trim. They do appreciate it (or so it appears) once they get used to you touching their precious toes.Does it hurt cats when you cut their nails/claws with a clipper?
Just like your fingernails, no it doesn't hurt UNLESS you cut into the quick. If you look at the claws, you can see the quick inside. The best bet to trim a cat's claws is to take off just the ends. Cats do not like to be held down, so it may squirm, be careful.

It doesn't hurt them.
It doesn't hurt them as long as you don't cut into the quick. It is better to err on the side of leaving them a little long at first so you don't accidentally hurt them. They don't forget that so easily. They usually don't like to have their paws restrained tho so it is a good idea to start out with only one or two nails on one foot at a time and do it while they are sleepy and relaxed. A tasty treat after is not a bad idea either so they get the idea that when their foot is restrained they get something good.
Actually, yes it does. Cat claws aren't shaped like our nails so when you apply a staight up and down force on the curved nail, it pushes down on the quick and blood vessels even if it doesn't cut that far.
sometimes if you cut the quick (a meaty place in their nail) it hurts them badly and it bleeds and even when you don't cut the quick it can hurt because of the pressure on their nail
u have to cut them a certain way cause they have small veins in their claws. I always bring my animals to the vet/groomer when they need it done, its the safest
I tried it before but i felt scared myself so i just bought a cat clipper. lol. but now i don't even cut them anymore, i don't know why though,..
No, it will not hurt them unless you hit the quicks.
yes it hurts them so go to this website ';peticure.com';to order a different thing to shave its nails it cost 30$ but its worth it
no its not supposed to unless u cut it too deep.its just like clipping human nails.
