I have a little pet dog that won't stay still 2 clip her nails. is there any easy tips...?

every time i try to clip her nails she flips out. I try 2 be carefull and not cut muscle. someone else has to hold her but she pulls her paw away from me every time i grab it 2 clip it and when she does that i get afraid because i don't wanna hurt her buy cutting her muscle from her moving so much. so any tips would be helpfull.....I have a little pet dog that won't stay still 2 clip her nails. is there any easy tips...?
I would start playing with her feet everyday...picking them up, using different pressures, touching pads, nails, in between toes...this will desesitize her and eventually allow you to clip her nails...also do this all over her body...if she is desensitized to different touches every where...tail, hind end, legs, ears, head, mouth..open her mouth and look at her teeth doing this will help you out greatly in the long run and REALLY make things easier on your vet!!

everytime you touch her foot be like...nice feet good girl..and give her a treat...if she pulls away don't give the treat...pick up her foot again and pet it and repeat...nice foot good girl..until she stops flinching...it will take awhile because this is technically trainingI have a little pet dog that won't stay still 2 clip her nails. is there any easy tips...?
Keep telling her that she's a good girl, after all that give her a treat so this way after a few more times, she may not be so scared. Keep letting her know that she's good and show her lots of attention.
I understand, you dont want to cut into the quick. You have to be the one that runs the show, and make her mind. Clip just the tip and do it every other day until you have it as short as you need them to be, and she will get used to it.

Dont get upset while doing it.... go about it in a direct and purposeful manner. She has you fooled.

Have a professional show you, but it can be done by you at home once you get the right mind set.

We have two Poms, and they can fool some family members and pitch a fit, but I just do it and it is done!
it is called the quick,,,, not muscle,, put her on your lap, on her back and have some one clip the nails,, do not tolerate any nonsense
Muscle? You mean ';quick';?

Lots of dog struggle when having their nails clipped, and some never get over it.

Do it weekly, or every two weeks,

You can also file them, instead of clipping them.

If it's a real problem, take her to the Vet and have them do it.
There is NO way to cut ';muscle'; while cutting her nails!!!!!

What you are trying to avoid is cutting the ';quick';, or blood vessle in the nail.....not muscle.

Go to your vet or a groomer and have them show you how to do it.
You might want to take her to your local Pet Supply store to get it done. They are professionals and know how to deal with these types of behaviors, plus it is usually only around $8 or so.
I don't have any easy tips. Just slowly working with her getting comfortable playing with her feet, rewarding, toe nails rewarding, seeing the clippers, rewarding, touching with clippers rewarding and on and on until you can do it.
You may need to take her to a vet or grooming salon. They have special retraints sometimes that can be used and also, some dogs will sit still for a stranger.
do not try to do something to the dog that the dog doesent wana do! it might effect u more and then if u keep doin wat your doin it might get hurt and then u will blame yourself!
