Putting something that tastes awful on them will stop it. (unless he/she washes his/her hands).How can you stop a child from biting his/her nails?

Cut them every once in a while for them so they can't really bite them anymore. As soon as i started cutting them, i automatically stopped biting them.
I think there's some nasty tasting nail polish that you can put on your child's nails. that should stop the bad habit.
Add or subtract it from her allowance - if she bites his nails this week, you can take off $1 or more/less. She doesn't bite her nails she gets an extra $1...? Or no allowance at all.
