Is it true that Colonian people from 1600's had wooden teeth and wooden nails?

:S :S :S wtf.Is it true that Colonian people from 1600's had wooden teeth and wooden nails?
I'm not sure I understand your question, but in the 1700's it's claimed that here were dentures made of wood.

As for the nails, they'd more properly be called pegs and were indeed used, especially in furniture construction and sometimes in buildings.

Oh, and I think the word you meant is actually ';colonial.';Is it true that Colonian people from 1600's had wooden teeth and wooden nails?
who were colonian people?

Do you mean colonial?

No! while they might have had wooden teeth, false teeth were more likely to have been made of ivory or whale bone. Wood would not be strong enough. As for wooden nails. No, they are called pegs and were used a lot by the more skilled craftsmen. Nails were used a lot but were considered a convenience for those who were less skilled.

For that matter you will still find wooden pegs used in fine furnature.
Yes, it is true. Try to find one of the portraits by Grant where the sitter is George Washington, and you will see by h帽is face his deformed mouth. And that was afther the independence.

George Washington himself had wooden dentures.....it's true.
Yes, but only the people who were actually missing teeth. Remember, they did not have the technological advances to mold polymers that we do today.

Wealthier people could have dentures made of nicer materials, like ivory or precious metals. They could even pay someone else to do it for them. Remember, the colonists were extremely self-reliant. Not like the whiners around today. It didn't matter if you were a banker or lawyer, you still had to chop your own firewood and paint your own house.

As for your second question, yes, but they were called pegs.

Structures like homes and buildings, were built differently back then. Stronger. They were built the way furniture used to be built. That's why so many old houses still exist. ( and old furniture).

Pieces fit together into slots, and wooden pegs were often used to lock them there.A steel hammer was not seen on a construction site, unless it was being used for masonry. ';Nails'; did not exist until later, and even then, pegs were still used for the majority of the important fixtures.
