Why cant it all nails be white, or just be all black? Why do Dog paws have some nails thats are black, and some are white?
It has to do with the pigmentation on that area of the foot. Generally the light colored nails will coincided with light colored areas of fur on the foot and the black nails will coincide with dark areas of hair on the foot. If the dogs foot is all dark colored the nails will generally be all black, if all light colored the nails will generally be all clear/light colored, if the color is a mixture you will generally get a mixture of colors of nails Why do Dog paws have some nails thats are black, and some are white?
If you have like a white or golden dog or any light coloured dog, the nails will probably be white. If you have a dark coloured dog the nails will probably be black. I think it has something to do with the colour of fur they have and their pigmentation or something like that. Some dogs even have a mixture of black and white nails, a black and white Staffie cross down our road does.
They can't all be white or all just black because all dogs are different and unique with different kinds of fur colour =)
It's just like their coat - they can be different colors. My dog is black and white. She has some nails that are white, some that are black and some that are white AND black.
