How can I make my puppy realize his toe nails are sharp and he's scratching the crap out of me!?

He's a 4 month old German Shepard. And his nails aren't long enough to trim, there just really sharp... What can I do? My legs and arms have tons of scrathes... I feel like I have a freaking cat...How can I make my puppy realize his toe nails are sharp and he's scratching the crap out of me!?
Don't trim them, go to a cvs or walgreens, buy something called pedipaws, you may have seen an infomercial for them, it works really well, it just files the nails down, so if you only use it for a couple of seconds it will make them smoother and rounder with out making them shorterHow can I make my puppy realize his toe nails are sharp and he's scratching the crap out of me!?
I am a Veterinary Assistant and I know the best thing to do is to

train him not to scratch, that's the only thing a puppy will understand.

When ever he scratch's than push him down and say ';No!';

Than when he finally gets it say ';Good dog,'; and give him a treat.

Its that easy! But it will take some time, so be patient, he's just a puppy :)
LOL ';Freakinc cat!!'; ROFL

Here's what I was shown at the Humane Society where I volunteer: when a little puppy chewed on the trainer's finger, she (the trainer) yelped in pain and then hide moved her hands away for a few minutes. It works! It signals to the dog - in a language he can understand - that ';Hey, that hurts! And if you do that to me, I won't play with you anymore.';

Also (and I don't mean this sarcastically), maybe just put on jeans and a long-sleeved shirt when you play with the little fellow. He may no be able to connect the idea of his paws causing pain.
You should start nippin the end of puppys nail as early as 8 weeks.old. Try keeping a emery board next to where you and puppy kick back. when he's asleep take you emery board and file the tips. Even if it has to be done a little at a time. If you don't start tipping his nail on a regular basis they can get out of hand. just smoothing the tips will help honest..As for as making him realize they're sharp forget it he'll never figure that one out. start breaking him of this behavior now...
You can file the tips like you would your fingernails and take the sharp edge off them. Still won't stop his scratching. You'll have to find out why he's doing it ... could be he wants to play, or is otherwise trying to get your attention.
you should have his nail trimmed. That will take care of the problem. Yelping is how puppies tell each other they have had enough. If you watch puppies play when one gets too rough the other puppy will yelp not our of pain but to say enough. Sometimes the puppy is not even making contact. This is just part of doggy manners. Your dog will take it seriously if you yelp then ignore him for a few mins.
I would not recommend to use clipper to cut the puppy's nail. I would introduce him to dremel tool which is great on dogs' nail. They don't hurt much like clippers do. I would want him to be comfortable with the drilling sound and vibration. Soon as he accepts, I would be using that forever..
Get a can and put some coins in it. Shake it in his face every time he jumps. The pups really hate the noise and it calms the bad behavior pretty quickly.
You need to file off the sharp tips.

You also need to reach the dog not to jump on people and not paw people. When he scratches you say No and put his paw on the ground
Get a pedi paw and keep them filed down.

Why would you be scratched? When are the dogs paws on your legs and arms? Why doesn't it know the down command.
when he scratches you, say ow! really loud and ignore him. he'll get the hint that he's hurting you and then he'll calm down.
Take him to a dog groomer and have them smooth the edges of the nails.
get a drumel tool and file his tips off.
take him to the vet and get them trimmed
how to make him realize you don't like it?

beat him with a metal rod
make him wear gloves...
have him de=clawed
scratch him back
beat him when he hurts you.its only fair!
